午後： MAKING GROUPS AND NEGOTIATING IDENTITIES: LINGUISTIC PERSPECTIVES ON CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE YOUTH
Judit Kroo is a Japanese Society of the Promotion of Science Post-Doctoral Fellow at Yokohama City University. She received her doctorate in Japanese from Stanford University. Her dissertation project, ‘Alternative Masculinities in Japan: The Construction and Re-construction of Normative Gender Ideologies’ investigated the diversity of styles used by young male undergraduate Japanese speakers. Her research focuses the relationship between youth linguistic styles and processes of entering adulthood in Japan and Korea. Other research interests include the relationship between media consumption practices and gendered styles, and the mediatization of social types in Japan and Korea.
